RE: The Official Fantasy Football Thread 2023/24
Well goddam that was a surprise, very please at how well I finished and needless to say its honestly the 1st year I haven't forgotten about it and lost interest because I was soooo far behind, maybe do better next year?
RE: Rebus
well I enjoyed all 6 episodes BUT
SPOILER:
I watched thinking, ok I can't remember the books I read or even the tv shows but I preferred Hannah to Stott but this didn't ring any bells with me from either tv or books then it was mentioned its based on the character but not actual stories and he's in his 40s now which made sense but after watching 6 episodes I feel I am not being unreasonable in expecting a feking end to the story!!!
RE: [VIDEO] Arsenal 23/24 season
technically he hasn't been linked with arsenal per se, allegedly his people have been in talks with 2 top 6 premiership teams which I totally get and apart from his dip in jan/feb after having his head turned by a bid from Atletico (£12m immediately rejected) and interest from Inter his 19 goals and 18 assists from midfield is fantastic but his touch and brain and more importantly his attitude will take him to the very top imho and I look forward to the £25 million we received for Jota and KT being smashed
RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...
I thought Boom was sensational, SPOILER:
I mean showing war as being totally stupid, religion being totally stupid especially when its main purpose seems to be raking in money by fighting wars and multinational companies will always screw the pennies by whatever means necessary ticked all the boxes for me.
It will be interesting to find out why this actress is playing so many roles and the tease about ruby's past (and future) was very well done.
RE: [VIDEO] Arsenal 23/24 season

RE: Rebus
aye will be watching
RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...
Well I would be seriously worried about the awful ratings, 2.6 and 2.4 million for the 1st 2 episodes is shocking, I hope when iplayer watches are added it will be decent but if not, were doomed, doomed I tell you :)

RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...
The 1st 2 episodes played at midnight on the iplayer to sync worldwide with Disney
RE: [VIDEO] The All New Doctor Who Thread...
so obviously no spoilers but basically I enjoyed both episodes immensely and frankly a lot more than I expected to, I have never seen anything the doc has done apart from his 1st episode, there is a manic infectious energy that it seems has been lacking and a wacky sense of humour which seems perfect, there were a couple of things that could have been improved I think even though
SPOILER:
the musical ending of the 2nd episode was weird but at the end of it I still had a huge smile of my face, totally against my wishes, the space babies was a triumph and the Maestro just so much fun I defy anyone not to be drawn into the character and story
[VIDEO] Granite Harbour
2nd series just started, like the 1st 3 episode story arc, I enjoyed it very much, reverse murder in paradise, Jamaican cop moves to Aberdeen

RE: [VIDEO] Shogun the (unnecessary?) Remake!
Now on Disney + dont miss it
RE: [VIDEO] Shogun the (unnecessary?) Remake!
This was an exceptional remake of (I remember) being an already great story, didn't let up from start to finish, I won't say too much for fear of spoilers but it is top class and WWAW.
My one concern about the ratings is unfounded as it gave FX its highest ratings of the year I believe

RE: [VIDEO] Monkey Man
WOW!!! WOW!!! and WOW!!! again, its a freakin masterpiece that must be seen by as many people as possible , watching it I was thinking what a big risk this must have been for Dev Patel until I saw the credits, he wrote the story, worked on the screenplay and amazingly (given its 100% his movie, being in nearly every scene) directed it, and his direction made the movie.
So one minute its got an obvious Indian film feel which it is then switches to a John Wick revenge martial arts , then again an art house movie and is seamless in the transition which took a lot of planning I would imagine.
Now I love a good revenge flick but unlike JW this is definitely set in the grungy underground Indian city scape and the story which is the absolute best I can remember in a long time from the genre and steers clear of the obvious tropes used by many but shows in flashbacks (normally one of my pet peeves) just how he got to where he is and the fire passion despair and fury that drove him there.
The cast are magnificent and given the story they were given and how overwhelmingly it concentrates on Patels character they shine when given a chance. The bag guy was very bad and the one point I ended up scratching my head about didn't matter because he had gained enough good will for me to let it slide.
Blood and guts galore, some stylish fight scenes which possibly gravitated too far towards JW for my taste but some brutal ones also which I felt fit in more with the gritty background setting and characters. all in all absolutely my favourite film of the year so far and definitely WWAW just for Dev Patels astonishing performance

RE: [VIDEO] Deadpool & Wolverine
still game !!!! holy s*** lol
[VIDEO] Red Eye
This really surprised me, and in a good way, for me its miles better than Hijack which was a major disappointment tbh, like Hijack you have to suspend belief but the premise is much more likely and the 2 leads were terrific WWAW.
didn't realise some shows on ITVX dont play in Scotland and had to watch on STV Player

RE: [VIDEO] Trap
well re twist SPOILER:
I thought the daughter must be in on it or is the killer? only twist I could imagine
[VIDEO] Everton Nottingham Forest VAR disgrace
3 undeniable penalty decisions none even asked the referee who made 3 clear and obvious mistakes, I think this could be the beginning of the end for VAR. I certainly hope so as I feel it will take someone with the money the Forest owner has to stand up to this frankly incompetent and obviously unworkable technology and god awful referees.
RE: [VIDEO] Fallout (Amazon / 2024)
Well I enjoyed that immensely , seems the game conversion movies are just marvellous so far, The last of Us was quite rightly critically acclaimed , Twisted Metal not so much but was the series I had most fun watching and Fallout was terrific too, I wonder if the fact I never played any of the games helped, couldn't be let down. WWAW
RE: [VIDEO] Damaged
didn't know a thing but Jackson and Hannah both favourites of mine and Scottish backdrop was enough for me
RE: How many browsers do you use?
safari soo goodie
[VIDEO] Damaged
Well this was excellent :) a real surprise with excellent writing and acting set in Scotland and was like dropping Sam Jackson into a top class BBC murder mystery cop show, tried to tip the nod to Seven I feel and was cracking to see some well known Scottish faces get a Hollywood movie under their belts. John Hannah admittedly a favourite of mine at his scene stealing best and Gianni Capaldi who also wrote it just fabulous
So as good as the writing was I thought
SPOILER:
The seven nod made it obvious the wife was getting it and made the murderer obviousand then
SPOILER:
turns out the murderer wasn't quite so obvious and the ending was typical BBC and anti Hollywood and thats no bad thing

RE: [VIDEO] Knox goes away
Really enjoyed this, Michael Keaton is getting better as he gets older and a very very clever (but silly) script which was really engaging and the addition of a very strong supporting cast including Pacino certainly helped
RE: [VIDEO] Madame Web
so I got around to watching this, more out of curiosity than anything else, and wasnt as bad as I feared but thats a low bar, the problems for me were the ridiculous power she had that made it impossible for her to fail and possibly the worst opening and closing 5 minutes they could have mustered :) shame
RE: [VIDEO] Scoop
I really enjoyed this, and coming from someone who didn't even Bother watching the interview and palaver when it was shown on news night thats the highest praise I can offer WWAW
RE: [VIDEO] Quantum Leap!!! 19 Sept start date
it wasn't terrible which I expected after the 1st 2 or 3 episodes but it was instantly forgettable and is this age of so many channels available through streaming that is worse than being so bad its watchable :(
