Synopsis:
Researchers on the undersea laboratory Aquatica have genetically altered the brains of captive sharks to develop a potential cure for Alzheimer's disease. There is one unexpected side effect. The sharks are getting smarter. Which could mean trouble for the researchers. And lunch for the sharks.

With all the hype surrounding this movie I expected a lot more. The first thing to mention is the poor acting in the film, apart from Samuel L Jackson the acting was terrible, in particular LL Cool J who should stick to singing. The special effects were the films one savour and looked and sounded awsome at times. Another good point to this film is it's special features which are above average. All in all this film is a bit of a mixed bag, great special effects and extras, let down by poor acting and at times a wafer thin plot.

This film is a bucket of pure exciting tosh, plot what plot sit back grab a beer and let those over done oxford graduate sharks entertain you!

I love this film for one reason. There is a scene in this film that made me jump! I have not done that in years.

The CG is very good, but the sharks look over done (like a movie explosion if you get my drift)

This film is different to most kill the monster films in the fact that the people you think will die.................watch the film its youll see what I mean.

Overall this DVD is well worth purchasing the extras are very good.

I avoided seeing this film at the cinema because my friends saw it and weren't impressed. This Easter, I borrowed the Region One DVD off a friend after he recommended it and I really loved it. People who say the plot is thin are totally wrong. It's the classic Frankenstein's monster thing. They created these super intelligent sharks and now they're gonna get what coming to them.

The picture is sharp and the audio is superb. The musical score is as powerful and menacing as anything else I've heard (including John Williams "Jaws" theme) and the inevitable explosions really do give your speakers a good work out.

The extra features add to the film immensely, making you appreciate it even more. The deleted scenes with director's commentary show how he opted for non-stop action over explanation as the majority of cinema goers want entertainment and excitement. He also explains how he wanted each character to be judged by the audience and how these scenes worked against his vision. The DVD format has now given him the ability to offer something to those wanting a better story and insight into the characters. The commentary is informative and enjoyable to listen to and the two featurettes are also good. I exhausted all the material on the borrowed DVD and still went out and bought it when it came out on Region Two with identical features.

I actually believe this film is better than Jaws as there is an attempt here to explain the cause of the man-hunting sharks, whilst the shark in Jaws behaved totally unnaturally.

OK the so the storyline is Bullshit, But the movie is fun and looks good,
Everything that could possibly happen, happens.
In case you didn't know this is a homage to the 3 Jaws movies, mirroring scenes from the films, particularly the way the sharks die -
But is it scary? I'd say yeah, but not 'Jaws' scary think jurrasic park but a fast-moving, intelligent shark is never gonna be as impressive as a Screaming T-Rex, Tho there is one scene in particular that should make you sit up and take notice, trust me you'll know it when you see it.
The picture and sound are great and the features are all present and accounted for, other than that I can't really see you watching it more than twice. which is more than can be said for most films

This is a fun movie to watch.
That is, if you don't mind the hillarious CG of the sharks.
I don't see any point writing about the story, since it is obvious that whoever watches this movie is more likely to wait for the sharks to attack than focus on the plot and acting. Right?
The video transfer is very nice. The undersea shots are not smudgy and the blues and the blacks are very clear. That is NOT to say the the CG is ok. It is far from it. During the commentary you would be asked by the director to try and guess which sharks are "real" and which are not. This task is very easy, trust me.
The DD 5.1 audio is great. I really like claustrophobic scenes and their soundtrack, especially if they are under the sea. A great audio mix here.
All the bonus stuff is nice, but I especially liked the director's commentary.
Unlike "Jaws", however, this movie did not make me double check the water before I went for a swim. It's a much less scary one than "Jaws", but it is still a fun one.
